Who can forget this famous navigator, the first to offer serious competition to Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0. Since its beginning has always been the rivalry browsers until became the favorite of the users. Netscape always taking a step forward innovating and upgrading, it couldn’t be considered the ancestor of multiple browsers as Firefox, Opera, etc..

It was one of the first incorporating the use of navigation tabs in one explorer, being able to include plug-ins or external extensions, web search integrated and the selection of themes for an excellent presentation.

Starting Netscape 7.1 version based on Mozilla 1.0 , it provide us an idea of what we have now as the Firefox browser. In version 8.1 we can find similarities as the plug-in installation, speed, user friendly interface and the appearance configuration. We can also find extra options such profiles selection, the sidebar, direct access to your contacts AOL messenger, desktop search, weather, etc..

Unfortunately AOL current business focus and the successful development of Mozilla foundation Company, they felt it was time to end the browser development and thus order to end officially the support of the browser in March 1, 2008. If you are or was a fan of Netscape as this user please do not hesitate to download the latest version available 9.06.
